I wish I could shoot off fireworks when you read this or that I was tech-y enough to include fireworks graphics in my post.

Alas, I am lucky that I can write a post with pictures.

So, instead you will have to picture the fireworks in your head.

We have come to the end! 20 weeks and 20 posts later, we have gone through the CSA season together. We have had our ups and we have had our downs.

Without further adieu, here is what we got in our last CSA share:

Onions
Beets
Sweet Potatoes
Salad Mix
Carrots
Winter Squash (including Butternut!)
Kale
Popcorn
Potatoes

Onions: I was glad we got another bag of onions. I love the CSA onions and I love not having to buy any at the store.

Beets– My favorite. Beets. Yum. Sigh. I think my beet collection is up to 15. Anyone want to trade for another butternut squash?

Salad Mix– This is a great surprise for the end of the year.

Carrots: These purple carrots are great for veggie trays. They make people do a double take.

Butternut Squash!– Finally! This has been a long time coming.

Now I need to decide what to do with it.

Kelly from Twitter suggested lasagna or macaroni and cheese. I am intrigued!

I also love subbing in roasted butternut squash for pumpkin in my favorite baked goods, pumpkin oat bars and cranberry pumpkin cookies.

What’s a girl to do?

I think I may have to buy some more butternut squash.

Popcorn– Confession: I am a little scared of the popcorn. Has anyone made it? Any tips?

Potatoes: Potatoes are starting to grow on me. This week I will share a no-fail baked french fry recipe AND one of my local chef’s spin on Olive Garden’s potato and kale soup. Stay tuned.

Kale– For me, kale represents my growth through the CSA.

Don’t laugh! I hated kale when I first started. Now I love it and am super excited when I can find more in the discard pile. Now that we’ve finally conquered kale chips, I have a feeling I will be buying a lot of it this winter.

Now that we have finished the season, I would love to hear what your biggest surprises were. What produce grew on you? What challenged you? What made you want to hide under the table (ahem, beets as big as your head perhaps?)

Let me know and stay tuned the rest of the year for more recipes.
