Hey folks, it’s been awhile. I am going to cut right to the chase and tell you, I have been dealing with some health stuff. Not this-is-serious-life-or-death, but health stuff that has occupied me on an intense basis for the last 9 months, and an ever present/denial basis for a good 10 years.
I’m still here. I’m still cooking and I’m still WANTING to write. But what takes up a lot of time is getting my health in order. And raising two strong independent women who I’m pretty sure are going to rule the world someday. At least one of them is, because rarely do well-behaved women make history, and my youngest is definitely not well-behaved (God bless her).
First, a call to action. Then an announcement. And finally, some of my favorite things.
Call to Action: Women: take care of yourself!
If there is something nagging at you and you can’t quite place it, but you know that something is not right. Figure it out. And if someone tells you that you are fine, but you know you are not, talk to someone else.
I had western doctors tell me all sorts of things from ‘you can’t get pregnant because your ovaries are too old’ to ‘I know you don’t like this medication, but keep taking it. You can’t take too much!’ And all of it was wrong and hurtful and wreaked havoc on my body and mind. But it took me a long time (too long) to gain the confidence to find other guidance. I’m on the other side creating my own healthy journey and if I have a bad feeling about something, I am acting on it.
Your health is your most valuable possession. Guard it. Protect it. Fight for it. I wish someone had told me this years ago. As women (and men), we overlook our own health because we are busy doing everything else. Our health is so important and we don’t realize it until it’s not so good. Trust your gut and if you don’t like your doctor, dare to find another or go outside the box to find someone who can help you.
Announcement: I am now a Doterra essential oils advocate.
I have always been interested in essential oils, but after a sleepless night (one of many), I pulled the plug and am diving headfirst into the world of essential oils. Expect me to get a lot more crunchy in the upcoming months. #SorryNotSorry. My Instagram feed may be filled with oils and oil blends. Bear with me. I’m excited about it. And I think it’s something we overlook and honestly, I am hoping to find some solutions there.
My Favorite Things
For some of you, this post was a whole lot of TMI. And maybe you already stopped reading. But I want to provide some value and I have also been wanted to share some things….
3 year old sleep regression IS a thing and we are dealing with it. And Fall Back?! I used to love this day and now…and now I’d give anything to be gone like my husband was this weekend.
Once a week grocery shopping. In an effort to find my zen, I have been trying to cut down to once a week grocery shopping haul. I’m kinda proud when our fridge is bare at the end of the week and I am not above getting milk from the Starbucks drive through. It’s a work in progress. Add on to that, I did my first Woodman’s grocery pick-up today, and I think I am on to something. While I kinda love peacefully meandering through a grocery store, that is not a reality for me. I don’t think my husband really got it until he took G2 shopping she took down a wine display AND a juice display in a quick in-and-out trip to the store. She is not a shopper. Unless I want to pay a sitter so I can spend 2 hours at a store, grocery pick-up is the way for me. And it dramatically cut down our weekly spending.
I broke my instapot. If you pour liquid into the instapot without having the bowl in, it’s a problem. There are weeks I use it every day and this was a time where I was under caffeinated and the bowl was still in the dishwasher. I am waiting to see if it’s under warranty, but I am trying not to be optimistic.
I bought an air-fryer. Aldi’s. What can I say? It was a good deal. But truth me told, I am not totally sold on it yet and have not taken it out of its packaging. Thoughts? Return or keep?
That’s all I have for now. I have. a new monthly goal of 2 posts/month. And hopefully I can provide a recipe or something more insightful next time.
Until next time….
Thanks for the nice blog. It was very useful for me.

I’m impressed, I must say. Seldom do I encounter a blog
that’s equally educative and engaging, and let me tell you, you’ve hit the
nail on the head. The problem is something not
enough people are speaking intelligently about. Now i’m very happy I found this in my
hunt for something concerning this.
