Tomorrow is my first CSA pickup day with Harmony Valley CSA. I am so excited! Is anyone else doing a CSA this year?

Because I am so excited, I am starting to plan how I am going to use my CSA. Remember, planning is key to use all of your CSA.

Here is what we may get tomorrow:

green garlic
sunchokes
chives
overwintered parsnips
overwintered spinach (yay!!!)
sorrel
french breakfast sorrel
black radishes
nettles

Okay, I have to be honest. There are three things that intimidate me: sunchokes, black radishes, and nettles.

Nettles

Are you supposed to eat nettles? When I did an internet search on nettles, the first site back was How to Cook with Stinging Nettles. They are going to sting me?! This is just plain dangerous.

From a quick perusal, it appears that nettles are greens that go well with pasta and cheese, and I can make pesto with it. Alright, I can handle pesto.

Sunchokes

Sunchokes are like supposed to be like potatoes. Both are root vegetables and both can be mashed.

Hmm…maybe a sunchoke, potato, and parsnip mash? That could be good. Hey, if you add some organic ketchup, anything is good, right?

Black Radishes

My final contender: black radishes. I found this recipe from Chocolate and Zucchini on black radish chips. I’m in!
