We all knew this was inevitable. Something in the garden was bound to die. I hope we can remember the zucchini as it was….

And not how it was in those final days…

If you're feeling optimistic about the greenery on the left, don't. It's the cherry tomato plant that is taking over three pots.

I’m sorry zucchini that I failed you. Here is what I learned if I ever dare to grow you again:

  • For the love of all things green, don’t eat the blossoms!
  • Telling them to climb up the side of the deck is not effective. I should have tied them to something.
  • Two zucchini plants in one pot is too many.
  • Zucchini plants need room to grow and run free. Next time I plant zucchini, it will be in the ground.

We had a good run with lots of ups and downs. I’m sorry you didn’t make it. The two zucchini you produced were amazing! Thank you for sticking it out with an inexperienced gardener.

Moving on, I have two free pots. Any suggestions on some late season plantings?
