Happy Labor Day weekend!

Today we are celebrating Baby G’s 3 month birthday. After months of making it through on sheer survival instincts, we are finally getting into a groove. We transitioned Baby G to her own room this week. In the beginning of the week, I spent most of my night running back and forth between the rooms, but slowly this mama adjusted. Baby G had no trouble at all, but I contemplated camping out with her. She has a sleep sheep that makes calming noises. I think they should make one for adults that makes baby noises.

As we settle into this new routine, I look forward to more blog posts and being able to be much more in contact with all of you. Thank you for your patience!

Now onto the recipe!

Believe it or not, we have been sitting on this recipe since shortly after Memorial Day weekend. We are bringing it back for our Last Minute Labor Day BBQ tomorrow. It has enough heat to keep Manatee happy and a hint of smoky BBQ to keep me happy. The garam masala adds a spicy twist to the traditional BBQ flavor.

Ingredients
[1/2] cup apple cider vinegar
[1/4] cup olive oil
1 tablespoon crushed red pepper
1 tablespoon chili powder
1 tablespoon liquid smoke
2 tablespoon brown sugar, packed
2 tablespoon hot sauce
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon garam masala
4 chicken breasts, skinless and boneless

Instructions
In a medium bowl, whisk together apple cider vinegar and olive oil. Add crushed red pepper, chili powder, liquid smoke, brown sugar, hot sauce, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, and garam masala. Whisk to combine.
Place chicken breast in a gallon zipper lock bag and pour 3/4 marinade over chicken. Push out excess air, seal bag, and store in refrigerator for 4-8 hours. Remove 20 minutes before grilling to bring breasts to room temperature.
Grill chicken on high heat, turning regularly and brushing with remaining marinade. Cook until chicken reaches an internal temperature of 160 degrees and let rest for at least 10 minutes (at which time the chicken will continue to cook and reach the desired 165 degrees).

In addition to the chicken, we will be grilling burgers, some veggies, and high end hot dogs (aka made with high quality meat from our favorite local butcher). What are you grilling this weekend?
