The theme for this year’s garden: restraint.

Last year, I may have gone a bit overboard with my container garden. I wanted to try everything and the pots seem to multiply in an almost dizzying fashion.

This year, with Baby Aime on the way, Manatee and I decided we needed to keep it simple.

No more experimenting with new plants. Last year, we learned that we cannot grow brussel sprouts, broccoli, tomatillos, squash (of any kind), and basil.

No more trying to grow squash in pots. It. Never. Works. And when it does work, I sabotage it.

No more herbs we don’t really eat. Yes, we are able to grow chives, mint, sage, and savory, but we never eat them fast enough.

We are just growing the stuff we know we can grow and eat.

May I present the Badger Girl 2013 Garden:

Cilantro

Mortgage Lifter Tomatoes

Brandywine Tomatoes

Sweet Italian Grilling Peppers

Poblano Peppers

The hardest part of the next few weeks will be NOT adding more plants to the garden. Wish me luck!
