It’s been a long time since I have blogged. I wish I could tell you that it’s because I am writing another book or I have been so slammed with magazine articles, I couldn’t do it.

That’s not the reason.

I have not blogged because being a mom of two kids is way more everything than I ever imagined.

Way more time.

Way more energy.

Way more love.

Way more ways to test my sanity than I ever imagined.

I feel like I have been put in a Hunger Games like situation where as soon as I think I have mastered something, I get thrown another challenge. Like there are movie producers behind some hidden camera going, “Okay she has G1 ready to go, pinch G2 so she cries and goes nutso. Then whisper in G1’s ear to throw a threenager tantrum about her new shoes. Now let’s have the doctor office call her and she has to answer because it’s impossible to call back.”

I’m constantly juggling and just when I think I have a clue, I tune in to Facebook and see that every other mother bought her kids adorable Saint Patrick’s Day outfits, made them a green themed breakfast, and somehow has managed to go out for lunch with all her mom friends and drink green beer. I did meet my mom friends but I was totally the loud mom (with matching kids) and I’m just thankful they still hang out with me. I may have bribed them with coffee….

So, yeah. This motherhood thing. It’s tough.

I love it. Wouldn’t trade it for the world. But it doesn’t leave a lot of room for other things. Right now G1 is sleeping (or so I would like to believe) after a 3 ring circus to get her into bed which included me dancing to a toy that sings La Bamba while she went potty, a dozen threats (in Arizona I actually threatened to let the coyotes eat her, lucky for me and her future therapist bill she doesn’t know what coyotes are and laughed), and several songs that were heavily negotiated. G2 was chewing on my husband’s shoes and is now starting to fuss. Maybe I need to find her some teething rings….

So, to all the moms out there: you are awesome. And for all the moms who didn’t have the matchy Saint Patrick’s day outfits for their kiddos, I feel you. Let’s kick some butt at Easter, okay? It just has to be pastel, right? It will be easier to fake that we bought something specific, right???

I hope so.

I think we all deserve a beer, green or otherwise.

Cheers.
